Code of Conduct

A member of the Wildlife Translocation Association of Namibia shall, in practising his/her profession, at all times:

  1. Capture, handle, care for and transport all animals in a humane manner, and cause persons under his/her employ or instruction to do the same;
  2. Ensure a minimum of suffering and stress to the animals under his/her direct or indirect care;
  3. Ensure that all sick or injured animals under his/her direct or indirect care are given the necessary competent veterinary attention or euthenased humanely at the soonest opportunity;
  4. Have due regard for public safety, public health and public interest generally;
  5. Discharge his/her duties to his/her employers or clients efficiently and with integrity;
  6. Uphold the dignity and standing of the Wildlife Translocation Association of Namibia at all times;
  7. Refrain from maliciously injuring, either directly or indirectly, the professional reputation, prospects or business of any other member of the Wildlife Translocation Association of Namibia; and
  8. Order his/her conduct in connection with wildlife translocation in accordance with this Code of Conduct in so far as they are not inconsistent with the laws of the country concerned. Provided that where there are recognised standards of professional conduct pertaining to his/her profession, he/she shall also adhere to those standards.
