Information regarding animal sales Selected animals from Okosongoro Safari Ranch will be offered for sale on Live Auction on 12 July 2008 at Okosongoro Safari Ranch. The animals can be viewed from 9:00 to 13:30, while registration will also take place at the auction tent. The auction will commence at 14:00. Animals sold on Live Auction will be at the risk of the buyer from the fall of the hammer. All live animals bought at the auction may be left in the boma for a period of seven days, at buyer's risk, free of charge. After seven days, all animals still in the boma will be subject to a boma fee. Boma fees will be charged at N$80.00 (VAT exclusive) per day for each large animal and N$20.00 (VAT exclusive) per day for each small animal. All boma fees, if applicable, must be paid in full before any animals will be loaded. In the case of animals sold on Catalogue, the sellers will bear all risks of the animals until delivery to suitable delivery sites in Namibia. This is unique to most game auctions and a great benefit to the buyers. The sellers ensure delivery of animals by a registered Namibian game dealer within 1 month of sale (unless otherwise specified) or will pay interest at prime rate for the period following the auction in case of late delivery. Should not all animals be delivered within 2 months of sale, the purchase price plus 2 months interest at prime rate will be refunded. The sellers are committed and contractually bound to deliver the animals as stipulated in the catalogue. Buyers can refuse to accept animals if their sex ratios and age groups differ from the catalogue description (see "Conditions of Sale", Clause 26). The sellers specify the lot sizes, sexes and age groups of the animals. Most lots will consist of breeding groups of mixed sexes and ages with more females than males and at least 60% of the animals being sexually mature. Should a group include juvenile animals younger than 3 months old, these young animals will be delivered free of charge with the lactating females. Unless otherwise specified each lot will include at least one sexually mature male. Hartmann's- and Burchell's zebra will be sold in family units. Buyers must be prepared to purchase additional (or slightly less) animals of the same family unit at the same purchase price, should only larger (or smaller) herds be available for capture, to avoid breaking up family units unnecessarily. Several lots of various species will consist of sexually mature male-only groups, which are offered for sale to promote the introduction of new genetic material to existing herds. Buyers are reminded that introduction of breeding groups may be even more advantageous to increase genetic diversity as the females are more likely to integrate with existing herds. Most of the animals offered for sale at this auction originate from Namibian game farms and are thus adapted to local environmental and grazing conditions. Only a few specified lots will be imported from South Africa. The auction will be conducted on behalf of selected game farmers and game dealers, thus affording buyers the chance to bid on animals from preferred genetic stock, a similar habitat and/or the shortest possible transport route. The auction is scheduled so that capture is only done after the breeding season of species such as sable antelope, waterbuck and impala. Mature females of these species are likely to be pregnant by the time they are delivered. Animals will be offered for sale subject to the "Conditions of Sale" as stipulated in this web site and the catalogue. Buyers must familiarise themselves with these prior to bidding. The final list of animals offered for sale and detailed descriptions of the lots will be disclosed in the catalogue, which will be made available at the auction. |
